High performance laser sources with mode-hop free tuning

Based upon the Littman-Metcalf architecture, our series of external cavity tunable laser souces include a wide mode-hop-free tuning over many wavelengths ranges between 1030 nm to 1630 nm. Available in benchtop and OEM version.

We offer a large range of Tunable Laser Sources between 1030 nm to 1630 nm, which can reach ultra-high resolution in the T, O, E, S and C+L bands. Since our equipment is based upon the interferometric process, the TLS can be integrated inside other Apex Technologies equipment as a local oscillator, such as the Optical Spectrum Analyzer, Optical Complex Spectrum Analyzer, or Optical Frequency Domain Reflectometer.

Spectrum Linewidth

  • SMSR: 55 dB / 0.8 pm
  • SSE: 55 dB / 0,1 nm
  • Sweep rate: Up to 200 nm/s

Narrow intrisic linewidth

TLS provides a narrow intrinsic linewidth. By using a Self-Heterodyne measurement technique, with an 11.2 km delay fiber, we measured the spectral linewidth of our laser.

Spectral linewidth of 10 kHz / 133kHz

We performed two different fits to the data : a Gaussian fit and a Lorentzian fit. The linewidths obtained were 10 kHz for the Lorentzian fit and 133 kHz for the Gaussian fit. The measurement time is 500 ms.

Narrow intrisic linewidth

Our series of Tunable Laser Sources provide an excellent power level stability and a Relative Intensity Noise (RIN) limited by the shot-noise level from 100 kHz up to 500 MHz

Shot-noise limited operation : -158 dB/Hz for Iph = 2 mA

We were able to measure an excellent Relative Intensity Noise in our tunable laser sources of -158 dB/Hz as shown here.
