External cavity Tunable Laser Source

TLS-APX series tunable laser sources are high performance external cavity Littman tunable lasers combining wide tuning range, high output power and high signal-to-noise ratio. Different wavelength ranges are available between 1040 nm and 1650 nm. The TLS can be connected to several APEX Technologies equipments based on interferometric principle (OFDR, OSA, OCSA). Tunable laser sources OEM and stand-alone benchtop instrument versions are available. The TLS benchtop instrument is proposed with a friendly-user software, a touch sensitive screen, GPIB, ethernet controls. The TLS OEM version is intended to be integrated into larger systems. It’s designed for customization and easy inclusion into a customer’s existing equipment or systems, offering flexibility in how it is used. It is provided without an included power supply. The end user is responsible for providing a compatible power supply, ensuring it meets the required voltage and current specifications for the instrument.

Narrow intrinsic linewidth: 10 kHz 

APEX Technologies TLS provides a narrow intrinsic linewidth. By using a Self-Heterodyne measurement technique, with an 11.2 km delay fiber, we measured the linewidth of our laser. We performed two different fits to the data : a Gaussian fit and a Lorentzian fit. The linewidths obtained were 10 kHz for the Lorentzian fit and 133 kHz for the Gaussian fit. The measurement time is 500 ms.

Shot-noise limited operation : -158 dB/Hz for Iph = 2 mA

APEX Technologies Tunable Laser Source provide an excellent power level stability and a relative Intensity Noise (RIN) limited by the shot-noise level from 100 kHz up to 500 MHz
